The quiet hum of the emitters filled the otherwise silent observation room. He stared off into the distance, overlooking the surface of the dyson sphere 93 million miles away. The solar collector rings wrapped around the surface, appearing not to move, the internal satalites shimmering in the star's brilliant light. Many who'd lived their lives on the station still found it to be an awe-inspiring sight.
But he stool there, contemplating whether he should go forward with his plan to bring outsiders onto his world. He knew if they entered they wouldn't be the same people when the time came for them to leave. He knew he could change that, but the dillema was still there. Was it right to harvest their experience, just as he had every creature on the surface?
He had created the inhabitants of this world with fragments of himself. 25 bilion sentient beings on a world 160 million times the surface area of Terra. 25 billion people he was going to harvest soon, and add their life experience to his own. He'd wiped the life off of the planet 43 times before. He'd only experienced a couple months since he began, but the sphere had aged 86 million years. Hunting down the largest Time Crystal in existance was paying off.
Quadrillions of lifetimes of experience, and still he stood debating with himself whether he should or not. He needed that experience. He needed that knowledge. Every scrap of information was needed. It was the only way he could ascend. He briefly glanced at the clock. Twelve hours until his guests would arrive on the ship. Still plenty of time to redirect them back to their homes, however rude it might be.
He pondered the mechanics of his goal. would he create an all new kind of existance, or would he simply merge with all that currently exists. An image of a whale giving birth flashed in his mind. He shrugged off the unusual thought, brifly noticing its relevance to his situation.
"Perhaps they won't mind" he quietly whispered to himself "They're bound to gain experiences down there that they'd rather not have. I could take those from them. Mutually beneficial" He stepped back to his chair and sat down, and pressed a button on the armrest
"Lord Wolfgang. any word on our guests?"
"Yes sir, they're 6 hours ahead of schedule" a tough male voice echoed over the comm "Last report says everyone is content with the accomidations onboard, except for Agent Xendrian, whom is slightly uncomfotable not being able to spread his wings."
"Alright, inform me when they come into visual range"
He pressed the button again, and once more, the chamber was filled with nothing but the quiet hum of the holo-emitters...
that picture sets the mood right without being intruding. you may be almost able to feel the soft air-wave of him moving slow in this still room. the sun is decent, i did not know for the first look if it was 'just' a style-element / a picture being hung up or the real free view on the sun just drawing by. decent, just decent. i very much like also the 01 in this series, not to say that the others are bad
i will read the text - that will be such a gem for me to read and enjoy that i will not do it until i get in the right mood and situation

Across the globe, 27 million men, women, and children live in some form of slavery. That is more people at this moment than in all the centuries of the Atlantic Slave Trade. Something must be done. This contest serves two purposes: Raising awareness about human trafficking and raising funds for the Not For Sale organization.
Open to all mediums. Deadline is March 10, 2010 @ 11:59pm PST.
